Nanotechnology for Counting, Sorting, Analyzing and Assembling Molecules

Greg Timp (UIUC ECE)

Abstract: The confluence of biology, information science and nanofabrication technology is poised to profoundly affect human existence. An especially compelling example is the recent success sequencing the human genome, which is based as much on integrated circuit technology, computing and puzzle solving as on biology. In this presentation we will describe research at the frontier of nanotechnology and molecular dynamics that is used to develop tools for counting, sorting, analyzing and assembling biologicals such as DNA and even whole cells.
