Stability of Quasicrystal Frameworks in 2D and 3D

Abstract: In this talk I will introduce the problem of the stability of rod an pinion frameworks in 2D and 3D. We will start by looking at rectangular and Penrose frameworks and I will give a proof of how to make these frameworks stable. To illustrate the problem I will present a real-time interactive computer animation. Finally I will explain some of the difficulties of extending the planar theorem to 3D quasicrystals.
