Duality and Trace, or, Everything I know about duality, I learned from R-modules

Abstract: By discussing the examples of R-modules and (hopefully) chain complexes, we will get an intuition for the definition of trace for strongly dualizable symmetric monoidal categories, as defined by Dold and Puppe.
