#### Symplectic circle actions with isolated fixed points

###### Donghoon Jang (UIUC Math)

Abstract: This talk is planned to be expository; basic examples will be provided. The study of fixed points of maps is a classical topic in geometry and topology. During this talk, we focus on fixed points of symplectic circle actions. Symplectic manifolds are manifolds with closed, non-degenerate 2-forms. Symplectic circle actions are ones which preserve symplectic forms. A basic example is rotation on 2-sphere. We discuss main theorems about fixed points of symplectic circle actions, and discuss techniques to study, including equivariant cohomology

#### Multiple recurrence in quasirandom groups

###### Anush Tserunyan (UIUC)

Abstract: We are reading the paper 'Multiple recurrence in quasirandom groups' by Bergelson and Tao ( http://arxiv.org/abs/1211.6372 ).
