#### Not your mother's calculus: an introduction to Goodwillie calculus

###### Amelia Tebbe (UIUC Math)

Abstract: We will discuss linear functors, the classification of 1-excisive functors by homology theories, and the definition of the 1-excisive approximation to a functor F. If time allows, we will attempt to give some intuition for the n-excisive approximations to F and why this theory is call "calculus".
