#### Symplectic cohomology and its role in mirror symmetry

###### James Pascaleff (UIUC)

Abstract: Symplectic cohomology is a Floer homology theory for convex symplectic manifolds, a class that includes cotangent bundles and Stein manifolds. Geometrically, it detects the existence of closed characteristics in a hypersurface "at infinity." On the other hand, it plays a crucial role in homological mirror symmetry, where it becomes the "closed-string sector of the A-model." In this talk I will explain these connections, including some of my results and directions for future research.

#### Rota's method and p-orthogonal systems

###### Wafaa Albaa (UIUC)

Abstract: We will review Pisier article on p-othogonal systems and Rota inclusion-exclusion principle for partition functions.
