Hyperbolic Space on the Oculus Rift

Daan Michiels (UIUC Math)

Abstract: This talk is a tour of the software project I'm heading at the Illinois Geometry Lab, called Hyperbolic Space on the Oculus Rift. The goal of the project is to visualize hyperbolic 3-space through the eyes of an inhabitant, and in the talk I will discuss some of the mathematics that go into making the program. The talk will be applied and have a computer science flavor to it, with linear algebra as the only real prerequisite.

Distal and non-distal NIP theories

Travis Nell (UIUC)

Abstract: We will read Pierre Simon's paper 'Distal and non-distal NIP theories', APAL 164-3 (2013) 294-318. This is the first talk on this topic.
