A Quick Introduction to Noncommutative Geometry

Sepideh Rezvani (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)

Abstract: Noncommutative Geometry is the study of algebras in which the "multiplication" is not commutative. In this talk we will give an introduction to noncommutative analysis, and talk about the dream of this field. Then we will see some examples of noncommutative algebras. In particular, we are interested in studying the noncommutative torus and attain an approximation of this object with the matrix algebras. This is joint work with Marius Junge and Qiang Zeng.
