#### Introduction to dynamical systems and mathematical billiards

###### Eunice Kim (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)

Abstract: A mathematical billiard is a dynamical system in which a particle moves in a straight line inside a domain and makes specular reflections at the boundary. We will start with a quick introduction to dynamical systems and billiards. Then using various billiard examples, we will discuss properties of periodic orbits, the notion of chaos, and some open problems in this area.
