#### Calculus on Meshes

###### Anil Hirani (Department of Mathematics, University of Illinois)

Abstract: We will start by considering what is needed to develop a calculus on meshes (such as on lattice grids and simplicial complexes) and on graphs and end with some developments from this decade and with some applications and open problems.

5:00 pm in Altgeld Hall 241,Monday, November 7, 2016

#### II_1 Factors with non-isomorphic ultrapowers

###### Stephen Longfield (UIUC)

Abstract: Continuing our talk from last week, we follow the recent results of Boutonnet, Chifan, and Ioana establishing the existence of uncountably many II_1 factors with non-isomorphic ultrapowers. This resolves the question of how many elementary equivalence classes of separable II_1 factors exist.
