#### Quantised Calculus in One Dimension and Applications

###### Ed McDanoald (NSW)

Abstract: This talk will give some introduction for certain topics in noncommutative geometry with special emphasis on the 1-dimensional torus. An organizational meeting will be held a week later.

#### Dixmier traces and limit sets of quasi-Fuchsian groups

###### Edward McDonald (NSW)

Abstract: Alain Connes in 1994 provided a formula for integration against the Hausdorff measure on the limit set of a quasi-Fuchsian group in terms of a Dixmier trace. This talk discusses the formulation of this result and its proof.

#### Quasidiagonality of Nuclear C*-Algebras

###### Chris Linden (UIUC Math)

Abstract: Tikuisis, White, and Winter have shown that faithful traces on separable, nuclear C*-algebras which satisfy the UCT are quasidiagonal. As a corollary, the reduced group C*-algebra of an amenable group is quasidiagonal. I will discuss Schafhauser's recent proof of this theorem using the extension theory of C*-algebras.

#### A brief introduction to Banach lattices and multinormed spaces

###### Timur Oikberg

Abstract: We start by briefly introducing Banach lattices, and describing their properties. We then segue to multinormed spaces, which were introduced to obtain an abstract description of Banach lattices (cf. concrete vs. abstract operator spaces). Properties of multinormed spaces and their representations as subspaces of Banach lattices will be discussed. PS We will also briefly discuss organizational issues
